A change is coming for those visiting the Nodaway County courthouse.
County commissioners recently approved a request from sheriff Austin Hann to limit public access on days when there are court hearings.
The west courthouse doors, facing Main Street, will be restricted to employees.
Public access on court days will be through the east courthouse doors, facing Market Street.
According to minutes of the county commission meeting on September 15, 2026, Hann said, "he had a statutory obligation to secure the Courthouse on court days."
The minutes also said, "Hann will work on public service announcements and signage as they transition to this new security process."
