The Nodaway County Health Department issues an advisory about bats.
Director Tom Patterson says the advisory follows calls to the office.

The news release on the health department's Facebook page "asks residents to use caution and follow some simple regarding bats and potential exposure to rabies."
The health department also "suggests extreme caution in dealing with all animals, especially unfamiliar ones, to reduce the risk of being bitten."
And the release offers suggestions to keep bats out of homes.
Patterson told KXCV-KRNW News Director Bill Oliver that it's not completely unusual to find bats in the daytime, that testing bats for rabies can happen only if there has been exposure to humans or animals, and he recommends pets getting rabies vaccinations.
