Negotiations have started between the city of Maryville and the Nodaway County rural water district where the city could sell treated wastewater to the rural district that could be used by a proposed data center.
At Monday night's water district board meeting (September 21), consulting engineer, Brock Pfost said he was in a meeting with two council members, the city manager, and the city's public works director.
Pfost also says the city is interested in looking at the contract with the rural district that goes through the year 2035.

The rural water district board plans to take action next month on raising rates to its customers to cover the cost the city of Maryville is passing on starting January 1, 2027 that is associated with the city's new water treatment plant.
