For the first time in a year and a half, Maryville has an assistant city manager.
A city news release says September 29 is the first day for Tye Parsons, who has been the grants coordinator at Northwest Missouri State for 13 years.
Parsons was among 51 applicants, 12 who went through a first round of interviews, and five who were interviewed a second time.
Parsons was also a member of the city council for six years before retiring from that position in the summer of 2025.
While on the council, Parsons served as mayor and mayor pro-tem and was involved in projects that included the South Main corridor reconstruction, the new public safety building, and the new water treatment plant.
Maryville has been without an assistant city manager since Ryan Heiland was promoted to city manager in March of 2025.
Parsons experience in government administration also includes stints leading the Northwest Missouri Regional Council of Governments and he was assistant director of the Missouri-Kansas Regional Council.
