Following the 30 minute review of the latest proposal from city staff, three council members gave their suggestions which will be incorporated into the next draft of the ordinance which could be considered at the council's next meeting on September 28th.
The council members supporting some UTV operation on city streets are Erin Allen, Ben Lipiec and Dannen Merrill.
Allen said " I understand why law enforcement wants it (the new ordinance) to be restrictive. I think we need to figure out what our goal is. I would rather say we're going to assume that Maryville citizens are reasonable operators of this and then we're going to have something in place for you guys (law enforcement) to have the ability to crack down on people who are not reasonable operators on this."
Bryan Williams expressed his continued opposition.
Mayor John McBride was absent from the September 8th meeting.
