Three Missouri hospitals in the KXCV-KRNW listening area are part of a new agreement involving 23 independent hospitals around the state.
What is called the "Show-Me High Value Network" includes Harrison County Community Hospital in Bethany, Fairfax Community Hospital, and Carroll County Community Hospital in Carrollton.
A news release says the network is described as a collaboration where each hospital remains independent and locally governed.
The network is also designed to provide the advantages of scale and shared resources without requiring hospitals to give up local decision-making.
The hospitals in the network serve a combined 1.8 million patients.

Twenty-three independent Missouri hospitals have formed the Show-Me High Value Network, a statewide collaboration designed to strengthen participating hospitals individually while improving health care quality, affordability and value in the communities they serve.
“The Show-Me High Value Network will strengthen participants’ ability to stay independent and community focused,” said Craig Thompson, CEO of Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare in Clinton, Mo., and chair of the Show-Me High Value Network. “Our participants share a common goal — ensuring health care decisions are made close to home and for the benefit of our patients, providers and community. The network will help our hospitals gain scale operationally by growing their engagement with peer hospitals across Missouri, while preserving the quality and local focus that defines our care.”
The cornerstone of the network is the establishment of a clinically integrated network, or CIN, designed to expand the value of care. The network provides a framework for hospitals and providers to collaborate on quality improvement, care coordination, data sharing and value-based care to the benefit of more than 1.8 million Missourians served by hospitals in the network.
“Our collaboration is powered by shared issues and values,” said Thompson. “The network will create a platform for broader engagement among the peer hospitals — clinically and operationally.”

Two committees — a Clinical Integration Committee and a Care Coordination Committee — will focus on the quality and value of care and include representatives from each hospital in the network. The committees will design, implement and sustain initiatives to enhance quality and care coordination while reducing administrative burdens for providers. In addition, the committees will develop a common set of quality measures and lead implementation of a clinical data-sharing platform to support the CIN’s work with insurers on value-based care arrangements and expand best-practice sharing for care delivery.
Additionally, the network will establish a committee of operational leaders to share best practices, discuss opportunities and challenges, and identify strategies to improve efficiency across member organizations.
“The Show-Me High Value Network gives independent hospitals a practical way to work together on the hospitals’ shared challenges,” Thompson said. “By aligning around quality measures, care coordination and data-driven improvement, member hospitals can strengthen patient care while supporting long-term sustainability, keeping care close to home for generations to come.”
In addition to clinical collaboration, network members will work together on opportunities to lower the cost of purchasing equipment and services. These services will be optional for participants and available where engagement best fits their local needs.

The network's collaborative approach also aligns with the state's broader goals of improving health outcomes while strengthening the value of care for Missourians.

While participants will collaborate through the Show-Me High Value Network, each hospital remains independent and locally governed, according to Thompson. The network is designed to provide the advantages of scale and shared resources without requiring hospitals to give up local decision-making.
