The Friday before the one year anniversary of the murder of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk, his widow speaks at St. Joseph Christian School.
Superintendent Danny Maggart says Erika Kirk accepted the invitation of students who are members of the school's Turning Point chapter.

Maggart says in visiting with members of Erika Kirk's team before her appearance, they said despite the timing so close to her husband's death that "she really wanted to come to our school".
Maggart also said he thought that "Charlie was somebody that had a heart for young people and I'm not speaking for her, but I think that his legacy of pouring into young people is something that she is obviously very passionate about and I think maybe in some ways it was therapeutic for her to come all the way out here."
Maggart says she gave "a very relaxed speech (where) she had her talking points, but it was not some cookie cutter speech. She was very real with the kids" as she focused according to the superintendent on faith and courage to the school's seventh through 12th grade students.
After speaking, Maggart says Erika Kirk stayed to interact with the students, having photos taken and "hugging student after student."
The superintendent added "With emotions she's been going through with it being near the one year anniversary of Charlie passing, there was definitely some tears being shed there. And I think it was therapeutic for her, I think that was her words and not mine, as I stood there and saw that."
Maggart also said Kirk's appearance came at no cost to the school or to anyone in the community
Turning Point USA's website says there are 6,200 high school and college campuses with a student chapter.
