Community relations manager Kelsi Meyer says the Happy Tails program expands what began in St. Joseph, where research shows therapy animals can help reduce stress and anxiety while creating meaningful moments of connection.

Meyer says the goal at the Maryville hospital is to have a rotation of five or six certified therapy dogs and their volunteer handlers.
Funding for Happy Tails is through the generosity of the late Sharon Bonnett...a former KXCV-KRNW general manager...and the support of the St. Francis Foundation.
