Maryville's observance of the 25th anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attack is Friday morning at 10 at the Freedom Rock inside Franklin Park.
The program is organized by Maryville fire chief Jace Pine, who says the local observance continues to make an impact on firefighters who weren't alive at the time of the attack and their families.

The chief, who was five years old when the attack took place, says what is most important to him is a thought from his father that the United States came together as one for a while. Pine says with "a lot of division in the world I just always hope one day we can get back to that", adding "one day I think we can get back to a place where all of us have a shared mission again."
Pine says Friday's program includes a few guest speakers, the Legion's firing squad, a bell ringing to remember lives that were lost, and a bagpiper playing "Taps".
During the program, Main Street will be closed between 7th and 9th Streets.
