One of eight people who died on Missouri highways during the Labor Day weekend was a 16 year old driving a UTV. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the driver was ejected when the vehicle overturned on a county road northwest of Kirksville Monday afternoon (September 7). The name of the young woman, who was from Kirksville, was not released by the highway patrol.
A UTV backing out of a private driveway too fast rolled and sent the driver to the hospital with serious injuries. The Missouri State Highway Patrol said this happened late Saturday afternoon (September 5) east of Cameron in Caldwell County. The driver, a 22 year old man from Kansas City Kansas was taken to the hospital in Cameron. The driver's name was not released.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a crash Saturday afternoon north of Graham where the driver and a passenger were taken to the hospital in Maryville. A pickup driven by a 51 year old man from Maitland went off Highway ZZ, struck an embankment and overturned. The driver sustained minor injuries. The passenger, a 51 year old woman from Mound City, was ejected and sustained serious injuries. No names were released.
