Last Friday (August 21), the Downtown Maryville organization launched a new initiative honoring those who are or have served in the military from Nodaway County.
City manager Ryan Heiland reported at Monday night's council meeting (August 24) that all 28 veterans banners to be displayed around the courthouse square have been sold.

Heiland said there is a waiting list, and requests can be e-mailed to maryvilledowntown@gmail.com.
The banners will be installed in October and be on display through Veterans Day.
According to the Downtown Maryville Facebook page, each double-sided, red, white, and blue banner will include a military photo, name, branch of service, and other service information.
