The city of Maryville has issued an advisory impacting all city water customers.
The city's Facebook page says starting Thursday (August 27), a different type of disinfectant will be used.
For the next 45 days, through mid-October, water customers may experience a more noticeable chlorine taste or smell and the change in the color or pressure of water while fire hydrants are flushed.
Among the reasons for the temporary change in how Maryville disinfects water is to control and prevent something called nitrification, which the Environmental Protection Agency says can degrade water quality.
The city's Facebook post says water will continue to meet all federal and state drinking water standards during this period.
