A one car crash on a country road in southwest Taylor County Monday afternoon (August 24) killed a man from Maryville. The Iowa State Patrol reports this happened south of the Siam community on Colt Road. The car driven by 41 year old Scott Lance went off the road into a ditch and struck a tree.
A 13 year old was taken to the hospital after crashing the ATV he was driving on a country road. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says this happened Monday morning (August 24) northeast of Weatherby in DeKalb County. The ATV went off the road, returned to the roadway and began skidding, then left the road a second time and overturned in the ditch. The teenaged driver from Weatherby was taken to a hospital in Liberty with moderate injuries. The driver's name was not released.
Two people crossing a highway in northwest DeKalb County last Friday afternoon (August 21) were struck by a SUV. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a 41 year old woman and a three year old boy from Union Star were taken to a St. Joseph hospital in serious condition. Troopers report the pedestrians were attempting to cross Highway 169 west of Union Star when they were struck on the passenger side of the SUV. The driver of the vehicle, a 63 year old man from Stewartsville, was not injured. No names were released.
