Parks and recreation director Maggie Lockwood said swing sets are being removed at Happy Hollow and Franklin parks because the city's insurance company considered them safety hazards.
The council also agreed with the parks board to not replace the swing set at Franklin Park.
In addition to a new swing set at Happy Hollow, the swing area will be expanded and the existing pea gravel will be replaced with mulch that is already on hand.
The cost, about $10,600 dollars, comes from savings on Maryville's dog wash station project.
