The Maryville chamber of commerce has announced award recipients at the organization's upcoming annual banquet.
They are business of the year, new business of the year, the good citizen award, the community service award, the 18 graduates of the 39th Leadership Maryville program, the five under 35 awards, and the Spearhead award for longtime service to the chamber board.
Tickets for the September 10th banquet are available through next Monday (September 1).

The Greater Maryville Chamber of Commerce is presenting community awards to an impressive slate of local honorees at its upcoming 2026 Annual Banquet. The Chamber congratulates all those being recognized and is grateful for their contributions to the community.
The Student Body is the 2026 Outstanding Business of the Year. Owned by Jim and Amy Goecken, the Student Body is the community’s go-to stop for Bearcat and Spoofhound apparel. Recently, Student Body expanded its retail to Northwest and now operates The Bearcat Shop on campus.
The Chamber New Business of the Year is Local Laundry. This award is presented to a business open for at least one but less than four years. Owned and operated by Sylvia Chloupek, Local Laundry is full-service business for both commercial and residential laundry with pickup and delivery.
Tyler Tapps is the 2026 Spearhead Honoree in recognition of his civic and professional contributions to the community and dedication to the Greater Maryville Chamber of Commerce. Tyler is a long term member of the Chamber Board of Directors and the Associate Provost of Operations and Assessment at Northwest Missouri State University.
Josh McKim is the 2026 Fred Von Behren Good Citizen. This award recognizes an individual setting a high bar in service to the community through volunteerism, leadership, and dedication to the community. Josh is a long term member of the Maryville R-II Board of Education, member of Good Dads, foster parent, and active in his church where he teaches Sunday School and drives the bus.
Asher’s Angels is this year’s Community Service Award Winner. Founded by Michelle and John Vaught, the organization has made a huge impact on the lives of many children in our community through donations of school supplies, books stocking stuffers, and much more for foster and underprivileged children. Their “Busy Bags” are utilized by local law enforcement to help calm children during interactions.
The 5 Under 35 Awards are presented to five Nodaway County residents under the age of 35 who are making an impact on the Greater Maryville Community with notable achievements in their professions and service to the community. The 2026 recipients are as follows:
Lauren Kelly is the Donor Experience Coordinator at the St. Francis Foundation for Mosaic. A Northwest graduate, Lauren is active in Chamber activities, serving as an ambassador and completing the Leadership Maryville program. She also teaches dance at Bearcat Boogie and partners with the new Title Town Cheer program.
Ali Zimmerman is a local entrepreneur, owning and operating Party & Pop Event Co. Ali utilizes her creative talents by designing custom balloon installations and providing event decor. She also is a dedicated realtor and property manager for Shirley’s Realty.
Bailey Harms is a published author and owner of The Plot Twist Cafe, Maryville’s newest book store. She earned a master’s degree from Northwest and partners with several campus groups to provide a space for local writers and vendors to display their talents. Bailey hosts a book club, book swaps, and other activities to promote literacy and community.
Bailey Schmidt is the owner and operator of Bearcat Boogie and recently launched Title Town Cheer to provide local athletes with even more opportunities to train and compete. She also serves as office manager for Enterprise Realty and participates in Chamber of Commerce activities.
Elizabeth Lyle is the Assistant Director of Maryville Parks and Recreation. She is a member of Host Lions and teaches dance classes at Maryville Dance Academy. Elizabeth is very involved in Chamber activities as a Leadership Maryville graduate, Young Professional, and Ambassador.
The 39th cohort of Leadership Maryville will also be recognized at the banquet. Graduates include Madeline Watkins and Jessie Hansen, Nodaway Valley Bank; Torrie Harkrider, Baker Chiropractic & Rehabilitation; Kristy Grimm, Kawasaki; Danielle Zimmerman, Ryan Milke, Holly Cowden, Bryli Lager, Rachel Welch, Daniel Phipps, and Lauren Kelly, Mosaic; Ashton Henggeler and Rhonda Mullock, Maryville Public Library; Jennifer Mackenzie, Marcus Holmes, and Rachel Mayfield, Northwest Missouri State University; Elizabeth Lyle, Maryville Parks and Recreation; and Amber Sego, Southern Bank.
The annual banquet will be held September 10, 2026, at Mozingo Events Center. Doors open for a cash bar at 5:45 pm, with dinner following at 6:30 pm.
