Maryville school district SRO's promoting an expanded entrance at the middle school and bus safety yard signs

The week before the start of the new year in Maryville public schools, school district resource officers are promoting two things.

From the SRO's Facebook page, there is an image of the expanded entrance at the middle school. The associated post noted that "We totally get that dismissal traffic at MMS can be a pain on occasion, but this should help us out in a big way. Same rules apply as last year - two incoming lanes for parent pickup, plus the far left lane for school buses."

SRO's are also promoting the distribution of new bus safety yard signs as "a roadway safety initiative to remind drivers to STOP for school buses during the loading/unloading process. If you see those flashing red lights and extended stop arm(s), it's not only a suggestion to stop - it's legitimately the law, folks." This post includes a link to a form that can be filled out for those who are interested in having the sign in their front yard.

Bill Oliver has returned to his alma mater as News Director for KXCV/KRNW after leading award winning news operations as part of a career that has also included sports, operations, management, and sales at public and commercial radio stations in Texas, Kansas, and Nebraska.

A 1981 Northwest Missouri State University graduate, Oliver was deeply involved with KXCV and KDLX as a student, hosting music and news programs, calling sports broadcasts, and helping keep the station on the air after the 1979 Administration Building fire.

Oliver says his return is motivated by a desire to be closer to family and to give back to the university and the mentors who helped shape his broadcasting career.
