Senators Grassley and Ernst were among nine Republicans voting for a proposed farm bill that was defeated by the Agriculture Committee

A new federal farm bill remains on hold because of a partisan conflict over a dispute on resolving error rates committed by states in administrating SNAP benefits.

The Senate agriculture committee defeated the latest proposal by a ten to nine party line vote.

All Democrats were in attendance, while two Republicans were absent.

All five Republicans on the committee representing KXCV-KRNW's listening area supported the proposal.

Iowa senators Charles Grassley and Joni Ernst provided audio comments after their votes. As of 11 a.m. Friday (August 7), no audio was found on the Senate websites or social media from Nebraska's Deb Fischer and Kansas's Jerry Moran and Roger Marshall.

Bill Oliver has returned to his alma mater as News Director for KXCV/KRNW after leading award winning news operations as part of a career that has also included sports, operations, management, and sales at public and commercial radio stations in Texas, Kansas, and Nebraska.

A 1981 Northwest Missouri State University graduate, Oliver was deeply involved with KXCV and KDLX as a student, hosting music and news programs, calling sports broadcasts, and helping keep the station on the air after the 1979 Administration Building fire.

Oliver says his return is motivated by a desire to be closer to family and to give back to the university and the mentors who helped shape his broadcasting career.
