Nine counties in northwest Missouri are included in a new major federal disaster declaration.
Tuesday's announcement (August 4) by FEMA is associated with severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding from June 4-18, 2026.
The FEMA news release says "Public Assistance federal funding is available to the state, eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities (that were) damaged".
In northwest Missouri, the declaration includes Nodaway, Holt, Andrew, Worth, Gentry, Harrison, Daviess, Mercer, and Grundy counties.
The declaration also includes Adair, Callaway, Camden, Cape Girardeau, Dade, Gasconade, Hickory, Jasper, Knox, Lewis, Linn, Macon, Marion, Miller, Moniteau, Morgan, Newton, Osage, Polk, Putnam, Scott, Shelby, Sullivan, Vernon, and Webster counties.
