Chillicothe police investigate a family situation that results in no arrests

Several people arriving at the Chillicothe police department Wednesday (July 29) just before noon led to an investigation where officers discovered no criminal activity.

After police was told of a possible missing family member and child, officers found them in a shelter due to fear of the other family members.

Those who made the report were unhappy with the answers they were provided according to police.

Statement from Chillicothe police:

At 11:51 a.m. (on July 29, 2026), several people arrived at the Police Department for a possible missing family member and their child from the 400 block of Elm St. Officers spoke with the reporting people and gathered information. Officers responded to the 300 block of Elm St. to continue the investigation. Through the investigation, Officers discovered the person and their child were not missing but had been placed in a shelter due to fear of the other household family members. Officers informed the reporting people of the findings, but the reporting people were unhappy with the answers they were provided. During the investigation, Officers did not discover any criminal activity or the person and child to be missing.
