The City of Chillicothe has announced the resignation of a councilmember.
A city news release says Manny Morales, who joined the council in June of 2025, stepped down effective immediately to focus on personal, family, and health matters.
Chillicothe mayor Theresa Kelly is accepting letters from those who are interested in filling the vacancy.
The initial deadline is next Monday (August 3) to submit a letter to city hall or send an e-mail to mayor at chillicothe city dot org.
The mayor asks that applicants give their address to ensure they live in the third ward and a statement of why they want to join the council.
The application period will be extended if the mayor does not receive enough interest.
The appointment would last through the next city election, which is in April of 2027.
