Maryville R-2 school district superintendent Philip Pohren says he is excited about 20 new certified staff members who are started Monday (July 27) with the district.

Pohren says with the combination of retirements, promotions, and filling newly created positions, they had to replace only ten people during the summer. Pohren said that number "is pretty impressive for our district. That's pretty impressive for any district."
And going into August, the only vacant positions are for paraprofessionals.
