Crashes kills one in Maryville and injures three north of Chillicothe

For motorists in Maryville wondering why South Avenue was blocked between Munn and Walnut Thursday morning (July 16), it was because of a fatality crash. The Missouri Highway Patrol report says the trooper who responded to the wreck at three in the morning determined a minivan which was heading west crossed the center line, went off the south side of the roadway, overcorrected, struck a ditch on the north side of the roadway, overturned, and struck a tree. The minivan came to rest on the passenger side facing east. The name of the 35 year old Maryville man who died was not released.

North of Chillicothe Tuesday afternoon (July 14), the Missouri Highway Patrol reports a semi, a S-U-V, and a minivan were involved in a crash on Highway 65. The 28 year old driver of the S-U-V and the 77 year old driver of the minivan, both from Chillicothe, sustained serious injuries. A five year old passenger in the S-U-V received minor injuries. The northbound S-U-V attempted a left turn in front of the oncoming semi. After the semi struck the passenger side of the S-U-V, the S-U-V spun and struck the minivan. The semi went off the highway and came to rest in a field. The driver of the semi, a 52 year old from Wellington Missouri, was not injured. No names were released.
