Marceline prepares for weeklong Independence Day celebration

With Independence Day fast approaching, Marceline is preparing and in the midst of a week of festivities featuring carnival rides, live entertainment, a community parade and a fireworks display.

The celebration began last Saturday as the Jones and Company Carnival arrived in town, offering rides, games and family-friendly entertainment through July 4. Live music will begin each evening at 7 p.m., providing entertainment throughout the week.

The annual Fourth of July Parade will step off at 5 p.m. Friday in downtown Marceline. Community members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and American flags as they gather to celebrate the holiday and the community.

The week's festivities will conclude with a fireworks display beginning at 11 p.m. at Disney Park.
