Nodaway County officials urge voters to prepare ahead of April 7 election

With the April 7 election approaching, local officials are reminding voters to plan ahead to ensure a smooth voting experience.

Nodaway County Clerk Melinda Patton said voters can save time on Election Day by reviewing their ballots in advance and becoming familiar with the issues and candidates.

“Before going to the polls or coming to our office to vote, we would encourage people to look up their ballots and be knowledgeable about what's on the ballot and be ready to vote,” Patton said.

Voters are also encouraged to double-check their polling location and make sure they have proper identification if required. Patton said ballot information is readily available through the county.

“Everything in Nodaway County to vote on is on our website. But if a voter wants to specifically know what's on the ballot for them, they can give our office a call and we can look it up and see which ballot is theirs,” she said. “We can either share that with them, email it to them, or they can stop in our office and get a copy.”

Patton also recommends voting early when possible to avoid long lines. Absentee voting will be available Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon for those unable to vote during the week.

“All polling locations are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday,” Patton said. “Heading to the polls early will help avoid lines and ensure every vote is counted without delay.”
