Halloween may be wrapping up, but the Maryville Chamber of Commerce is already gearing up for the holiday season with its annual “Grinch of Maryville” contest.
Six community members are finalists this year: Aaron Auten of the Nodaway County Fair Board, Daniel Nelson of the Nodaway County Senior Center, Kim Mildward of Downtown Maryville, Kennedy Schafer of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nodaway County, Teresa Hayes of Habitat for Humanity, and Glenn Miller of the Community Action Partnership.
Votes for the grinchiest contestant can be cast throughout November by donating to money jars located at the Maryville Walmart. The finalist with the most donations will be crowned the 2025 Grinch of Maryville, with all proceeds benefiting the nonprofit organization each contestant represents.
The newly crowned Grinch will make their first public appearance as grand marshal of the Downtown Maryville Christmas Parade.
