Hy-Vee has announced that the medications Ozempic and Wegovy are now available for $499 per month at its pharmacy locations across the Midwest — about half their previous cost.
The price reduction follows a new partnership with GoodRx aimed at offering significant discounts for uninsured patients.
Both Ozempic and Wegovy belong to a class of medications known as GLP-1 drugs. They are prescribed to treat diabetes and obesity and have been shown to reduce cravings.
Demand for the drugs has surged since their initial approval in 2017. A valid prescription from a licensed health care provider is required to purchase either medication.
