Evergy plans to continue pushing forward on green energy

Evergy

Evergy says it is pushing forward on green energy projects despite a shift in federal incentives.

The Big Beautiful Bill Act passed by Congress in July cut tax credits for solar and wind projects across the country. At the time, Evergy had approved plans to install solar farms in both Kansas and Missouri. It appears because those plans were already in place, they could still qualify for the tax benefits. Gina Penzig, Evergy's spokeswoman had this to say:

"The solar power plants that have been approved by the Kansas and Missouri commissions will be generating electricity for customers in time to qualify for the existing tax credits."

A wind project in Fremont County Iowa is similarly pushing forward, despite the shift in tax benefits.
