The Missouri Department of Conservation's Northwest Office is buying select tree and shrub seeds from the public. People can bring in approved seeds to the office this Thursday, Aug. 28 between 8 am and 1 pm.

The office will be accepting four seeds during the collection. A ripe Black Cherry will be accepted for $6 per pound. Hazelnuts will be accepted for about 5 bucks a pound, and ripe Paw Paw will be accepted for 1.50 a pound. A ripe Wild Plum will be accepted for about 2 dollars per pound.

The Department of Conservation stores the seeds of native fruits for future planting and distribution efforts.

The Northwest Regional Office is located on the Missouri Western State College campus. To ask questions about seed needs or special use permits visit mdc.mo.gov or call 816-271-3100.
