The Rose Theatre announced auditions for the "Fairy Tale Café" open for home school students from 2nd through 6th grades.

"The Fairy Tale Café" tells the story of Tessa and Abigail who serve magical treats to the heroes of the kingdom until Tessa's cousin schemes to turn the café into a place for villains. Nina Dewhirst, the director of the play, says the story follows a fantasy café experiencing a chaotic business change.

"The play is called 'The Fairy Tale Café' and it has twelve characters. It is basically about a café that sells sweets to heroes and then when one of the co-owners comes back to the café, she decides she wants to sell sweets to villains'. It sort of turns everything upside down and all topsie turvy.", says Dewhirst.

Tryouts are set from 2:00 to 3:30 on Tuesday, September 2 at 120 West Third Street in Maryville. The cast calls for three boys, three girls, and six characters of either gender. Dewhirst says students who audition could possibly earn a singing role.

"They don't have to bring anything. We will have audition sheets for them or pages from the play. We do have one part that I am thinking of dividing that has singing possibilities or can be spoken. So if someone wants to bring a song in or I may ask someone to sing a song or just acapella for me.", says Dewhirst.

Practices will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00 to 3:30 pm beginning September 4 with performance dates on October 17th and 18th.
