Nodaway County Historical Society is hosting an Emancipation Day Celebration

The Nodaway County Historical Society is holding an Emancipation Day Celebration event.

Prior to the ending of slavery across America, this day was celebrated in place of the Fourth of July. Historian Elyssa Ford will discuss the origins of Emancipation Day and trace its presence within Nodaway County.

This celebration will take place on Monday, August 4, at 7PM at the Nodaway County Historical Society. This program is free and open to the public.
