The August meeting of the Stanberry school board included adopting the budget and the property tax levy for the new school year.

This year's adopted budget includes carrying over a surplus of more than $97,000 dollars. The year before, there was a deficit of almost $18,000 dollars.

The new property tax levy for Stanberry schools at just over $5.40 is an increase of almost six cents from the year before.

The summary of Monday's meeting (August 17) from Stanberry superintendent John Davison said there are some capital improvement projects that will need to be addressed in the next few years, including the parking lots, heating and air conditioning systems, and several areas on the roof where an annual inspection were given a "D" rating which is equal to two to four years of service life remaining.

Bill Oliver has returned to his alma mater as News Director for KXCV/KRNW after leading award winning news operations as part of a career that has also included sports, operations, management, and sales at public and commercial radio stations in Texas, Kansas, and Nebraska.

A 1981 Northwest Missouri State University graduate, Oliver was deeply involved with KXCV and KDLX as a student, hosting music and news programs, calling sports broadcasts, and helping keep the station on the air after the 1979 Administration Building fire.

Oliver says his return is motivated by a desire to be closer to family and to give back to the university and the mentors who helped shape his broadcasting career.
