After eight years leading the Bearcat football program, head coach Rich Wright and Northwest Missouri State University are parting ways.
The announcement came Tuesday evening, just after Wright held a team meeting to talk with players and coaches.
Northwest posted a 6-5 record this fall, the program's 29th consecutive winning season, but failed to make the playoffs for the second straight year. Overall, Wright led the Bearcats to a 65-22 record and three MIAA titles.
Co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Chad Bostwick will step in as the interim head coach.
