September 2 Bearcat Coaches Show

Northwest head football coach John McMenamin and senior wide receiver Luke Mathews spoke with John Coffey at Tuesday's Bearcat Coaches Show.

The first Bearcat Coaches Show in September also signified the opening week for the majority of the fall sports around Northwest athletics.

Northwest Missouri State soccer will be the only team beginning the year on their home turf. The Bearcats host Northern State Friday at 5pm, then Bemidji State Sunday at 11am. Head coach Marc Gordon, junior Makenna West and sophomore Emma Cook join the show to look ahead at the upcoming matchups.

Bearcat volleyball faces a trio of non-league opponents in Hays, KS this weekend under head coach Amy Woerth entering her 14th year leading the program. Northwest saw a large group graduate, but is excited about the next wave of leaders like this week's player guest, Kate Frakes.

High expectations follow Northwest cross country into the fall season. The Bearcat men were picked to finish first in the MIAA, while the women were tabbed at No. 4. Northwest coach Wick Cunningham and seniors Tyler Blay and Taylor McCreedy sat down to highlight their careers to this point and the preseason rankings.

After football kicked off the 2025 campaign last Thursday, head football coach John McMenamin and senior wide receiver Luke Mathews sat down with John Coffey to discuss the setback against Minnesota State and the upcoming test against Washburn.
