Notes from the Bethany City Council

The Bethany City Council met in regular session on September 15th, where it approved changes to a city ordinance concerning required dog vaccinations. The update brings local regulations in line with veterinary recommendations, particularly for senior dogs.

City Manager Jake Taylor explained the revision, noting that some vaccinations are no longer considered necessary for older pets.

“For older dogs, vaccinations for parvovirus and distemper are not really encouraged, and that was going to be a requirement,” Taylor said.

In other city news, Bethany will host its annual hazardous waste and materials drop-off event on October 11th. The collection will take place at the Old Street Apartments between 8 a.m. and noon.

Additionally, Taylor announced the city has been approved for a new Transportation Alternatives Project (TAP) grant from the State of Missouri. The sidewalk project will stretch from Beekman to Miller Street along 20th Street and aims to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility.

“That was just announced last week,” said Taylor.
