The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a crash in Andrew County Wednesday afternoon.

A motorist attempted to cross US 71 south of Maryville and was hit on the driver's side by another vehicle travelling north.

Both vehicles skidded off the roadway and were totaled. The drivers were a young man from St. Joseph and a young woman from Maryville; both sustained serious injuries and were transported to Mosaic Medical Center.

The Andrew County Sheriff's Office assisted with the investigation.
