Northwest 79, Newman 49

Northwest Missouri State shook off back-to-back losses and hammered Newman 79-49 Saturday afternoon.

The Bearcats (13-4, 7-4 MIAA) jumped out to a 12-2 lead less than four minutes into the game and never looked back. Northwest forced Newman, a team that averages 19 turnovers per game, into 15 giveaways in the first 15 minutes. The Jets finished with 27 turnovers, with the Bearcats scoring 30 points off of those takeaways.

Molly Hartnett led the Bearcats with 21 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Caely Kesten added 17 points. Lindsey Kelderman hit three of six three-point attempts and finished with 13 points and four steals.

Northwest is back on the road Thursday facing Central Missouri. Game time is 5:30pm. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 5pm.
