Northwest Missouri State used a second half push to hand Pittsburg State its first loss of the season Saturday in a 69-59 Bearcat win.

Northwest (7-0) went on a 13-4 run from late in the third quarter to midway through the fourth to grab its first double-digit lead of the afternoon. The Gorillas never got closer than seven points the rest of the way.

Kelsey Fields posted a team-high 18 points and five rebounds in the win. Lindsey Kelderman added 15 points and four assists.

The Bearcats limited the best rebounding team in the MIAA throughout the afternoon. Northwest pulled in 41 boards to just 31 for Pitt, who averaged 48.7 per game entering the day.

Northwest is 7-0 for the first time since the 1997-98 season.

The Bearcats are on the road this week. They will face Fort Hays Thursday at 5:30pm. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 5pm.
