Northwest Missouri State battled through a cold shooting night from deep and held off No. 15 Emporia State 63-59 Saturday afternoon.

The Bearcats (8-3, 5-1 MIAA) faced a one-for-14 stretch from three-point range stretching from early first half into the second half, but the drought was snapped by Wes Dreamer. Emporia took a one-point lead with 10:22 to play when Northwest put together a mini run. Dreamer hit back-to-back layups and a free throw, Isaiah Jackson hit a shot, then Dreamer let it fly from deep. The senior knocked down a three with 6:08 left to give Northwest a seven-point lead and some momentum. He followed up the three-pointer with another layup to cap a 12-4 Bearcat run.

Dreamer finished the night with 22 points and five rebounds. Daniel Abreu was six-of-nine from the field for 12 points, and Bennett Stirtz chipped in with 11.

Jackson put up nine points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

Northwest is off until after the holiday break. The Bearcats' next game is scheduled for December 30 at 3:30pm against Clarke.
