Northwest Missouri State ended the 2023 campaign with an emphatic 56-7 victory over Nebraska Kearney.

The Bearcats (7-4) finished the year winning five of six games and putting on a defensive clinic in the finale.

The Lopers didn't find the end zone until a kickoff return went the distance with 11:41 remaining in the game. By that time, Northwest already held a comfortable 49-0 lead.

UNK put up just 197 yards of total offense and turned the ball over seven times. Northwest intercepted three passes and recovered four Loper fumbles.

Clayton Power spearheaded the Bearcat defensive attack with five tackles, two tackles for loss, and a forced fumble.

Senior Keegan Sturdy caught his first touchdown passes of the season in the win, one of three yards and the second from 12 yards out, on the way to a five reception, 58-yard performance.

Jay Harris finished the afternoon with 132 rushing yards. It was the 11th consecutive game with 100 or more rushing yards for the sophomore.
