Northwest Missouri State's four-game win streak was snapped in St. Joseph against rival Missouri Western in a 61-47 loss Saturday.

The Bearcats (12-3, 6-3 MIAA) shot just 28-percent from the field en route to a season-low 47 points.

The Griffons opened up a 10-point lead at the end of the first quarter and held study until after halftime. Northwest chipped away at the deficit on back-to-back buckets by Caely Kesten and made it just a five-point ball game with 7:10 remaining the third quarter. Missouri Western answered with a couple quick buckets to extend the lead back to 10 and never allowed an extended Northwest run the rest of the game.

The Bearcats held the Griffons well under their season average of 77 points per game, and forced 18 Missouri Western turnovers.

Kesten led Northwest with a career-high 24 points. Jayna Green finished the night with six rebounds, four assists and two blocks.

The Bearcats return home Thursday for the first time since December 30. Northwest faces Newman at 5:30pm. Pregame on KXCV 90.5/KRNW 88.9 begins at 5pm.
