The Northwest Missouri State Bearcat football team's 29 game winning streak over Emporia State came to close last night when the 18th ranked Hornets downed the 5th ranked Bearcats 33-13 in game that had a lightling delay in the second quarter.

The Bearcats battled a number of injuries sustained in the game including to starting quarterback Mike Hohensee and wide receiver Kashan Griffon. The Hornets also intercepted six Northwest passes in the game including a 76 yard return for a score by Emporia State defensive back Jaaron Joseph.

The Bearcats fall to 1-1 while the Hornets improve to 2-0.

Up next is a trip to Hays, Kansas next Saturday evening for a match up with Fort Hays State, which lost to Pittsburg State 40-14.
