Northwest 16, Missouri Western 3

Northwest Missouri State football pitched a shutout in the second half, and the running game came alive as the Bearcats defeated Missouri Western 16-3.

Northwest (4-1) was outgained 336 to 246 total yards in the game, but the Bearcats won the turnover battle and limited the Griffons rushing attack.

Trailing 3-0 early in the third quarter, Robert Rawie ripped off a 43-yard touchdown run that put the 'Cats on top 7-3.

Cole Lammel added three field goals to put the game out of reach.

Elijah Green added a pair of sacks making him the MIAA leader with 6.5 on the season. He finished the day with three of Northwest's seven tackles for loss. Cahleel Smith added four tackles and his first interception of the season.

Rawie finished the day with 84 rushing yards and a score on 15 carries, taking the bulk of the running load with starter Jamar Moya out with an injury.

Northwest will play at Pittsburg State next Saturday. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 1pm, followed by kickoff at 2pm.
