Northwest Missouri State came out on fire and hung on in the second half for an 80-68 win over the Pittsburg State Gorillas Thursday night.

Northwest shot 58-percent in the first 20 minutes, including eight three-pointers, opening up a 26-point lead in the first half.

Pitt fought back to make it a seven-point game with 1:16 left, but they wouldn't get any closer.

Trevor Hudgins led Northwest with 20 points and nine assists. He also broke the record for three-pointers in a single-season. Hudgins is at 120 after passing the old mark of 118 set in the late '80s by Duane Huddleston of Missouri-Rolla.

Diego Bernard ended the night with 19 points and eight rebounds.

Northwest caps its road trip Saturday in Joplin against Missouri Southern. Pregame begins at 3pm followed by the opening tip at 3:30pm on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9.
