Northwest 84, Southwest Baptist 61

Northwest Missouri State men's basketball reached its best start under head coach Ben McCollum with an 84-61 win over Southwest Baptist Saturday afternoon.

The Bearcats improve to 25-0 (15-0 MIAA). Only the 1930 Northwest team led by head coach Henry Iba had a better start to a season at 31-0.

Northwest Missouri State is also one win or one Washburn loss away from clinching a share of the MIAA regular season title with four games remaining.

Trevor Hudgins led Northwest with 20 points, four rebounds and three assists.

Ryan Hawkins also reached double-figures with 15 points. Tyler Dougherty scored 12 points off the bench, and Diego Bernard added 11 points, five rebounds and five assists.

The Bearcats return to action Thursday night in Warrensburg. Northwest takes on Central Missouri at 7:30pm. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 7:10pm.
