Northwest 57, Lindenwood 72

Lindenwood jumped ahead of Northwest by 16 in the first quarter and thwarted a comeback attempt on the way to a 72-57 win Saturday afternoon.

The Bearcats (3-6, 0-2 MIAA) shot just 27.3-percent in the opening half, and found themselves in a 22-point hole. They responded in the second half shooting 48-percent from the field and 5-7 from three in the final two quarters.

Northwest trailed by 24 in the third, but clawed back to get within 11 points of Lindenwood in the fourth quarter.

The Lions (7-1, 2-0 MIAA) managed to keep the Bearcats at bay en route to their third straight win. 

Kaylani Maiava led Northwest off the bench with 13 points, two rebounds, two blocks and two steals. 

Jaelyn Haggard and Mallory McConkey each finished with 12 points, while McConkey also grabbed eight rebounds.

Northwest is off until Sunday, December 16 when they host McKendree in a non-conference matchup. Tipoff is set for 1pm with pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 starting at 12:40pm.
