Northwest Missouri State opened the 2018 season with a strong performance against their rival from St. Joseph.
The Bearcats (1-0) knocked off the Missouri Western Griffons (0-1) at Bearcat Stadium in front of packed crowd of 8,750 fans.
Braden Wright led the charge for Northwest throwing for 216 yards and three touchdowns, and rushing for 63 yards and another score.
Shawn Bane hauled in one of those touchdown passes from Wright – a 60-yard strike in the second quarter. The senior wide out finished with four receptions for 102 yards.
The Bearcats are on the road next Thursday with a matchup against Washburn. Kickoff is set for 6pm, pregame on KXCV-KRNW begins at 5pm.
