Justin Pitts put on a display unlike any other that Bearcat Arena has ever seen as Northwest hammered Northeastern State 99-56 Thursday night.

The Bearcats improve to 7-0 overall, 1-0 MIAA with the win, while Northeastern falls to 3-4 overall, 0-1 in the MIAA.

Pitts was distributing early on with three points and five assists in the first five minutes of the game. Then he caught fire from beyond the arc with 27 points in the final 13:50 of the first half on the way to a 35-point effort.

Pitts made 10 of 13 three-point attempts to set a new Northwest single-game record for three-point makes. The previous record of nine was held by Ryan Welty (2016) and Zach Schneider (2015)

Thanks to the senior point guard's near-perfect first half and a strong defensive effort from the Bearcats (NSU turned the ball over a season-high 22 times), Northwest went on a 25-0 run to open a 44-10 lead with nine minutes to go in the first half.

The 'Cats also received a strong performance from Chris-Ebou Ndow who finished with 16 points on 6-9 shooting, four rebounds and two assists. Joey Witthus added 13 points, and Ryan Hawkins posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The Bearcats are at home once again Saturday as they meet Central Oklahoma in a 3:30pm game. Pregame on KXCV-KRNW will begin at 3:10pm.
