Northwest 85, Simpson 43

Northwest capped its non-conference schedule Saturday with a dominant victory over Simpson College, 85-43.

The Bearcats improved to 12-0 with the 42-point win over the Storm.

Simpson challenged Northwest for the first 13 minutes of the game. The 'Cats trailed 22-20 with 7:15 remaining in the first half.

From that point on, the No. 1 team in the nation took over on their home court.

Northwest outscored Simpson 65-20 during the remaining 27 minutes of the game.

Ryan Welty led Northwest by hitting 6-9 3-point attempts in the win. Welty finished with 18 points off the bench for the Bearcats.

Brett Dougherty also poured in 14 points for the second consecutive game, while also dishing six assists. Joey Witthus and Justin Pitts scored 13 points apiece.

Northwest's next matchup is coming January 4 against Missouri Southern. Tip off is set for 7:30pm. Pregame on KXCV-KRNW will begin at 7:10pm.
