No. 1 Northwest Missouri State started the Rich Wright era off with a 34-0 win over No. 4 Emporia State.
In his first career start as a Bearcat, quarterback Zach Martin threw for 314 yards and a touchdown while not turning the ball over.
Northwest's defense played much of the game in the Emporia backfield racking up four sacks of Braxton Marstall, including two from Mike Ehlke.
The 'Cats are on the road in week two with a game against Washburn on September 7.
