Weather Data and Emergency & Disaster Management Program

Andy Bailey, warning coordination meteorologist for the National Weather Service, talks about the explosion in the quality and availability of weather data over the past twenty years. He explains how forecasts are developed and shared with news outlets and gives instructions for protecting yourself from tornadoes and other severe weather.

Also, Dr. Mark Corson, professor of geography and chair of Northwest’s Department of Natural Sciences, discusses the interdisciplinary emergency and disaster management degree the University offers. The program emphasizes leadership and followership skills and provides a range of job opportunities for graduates.
